30 Hours at home ♥

Went home last week for my niece's modeling contest! It was also her birthday two days before I went home so we had some sort of post-birthday celebration X victory party after the contest--steak for dinner! Nomnomnom. :)

Flight was at 12:20PM. I arrived at the airport at about 12PM! haha. Was so scared I might get left behind by the plane! Turns out, flight's delayed for 2 Hours! Just great. Good thing I arrived in CDO before Anastasia's contest started!! :)

I was also able to take photographs of baChai before the contest! Yey! ♥ The baby girl is so pretty! ♥

PPO Concert at CCP. ♥

We were required to watch the PPO(Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra) concert for our music class last week at the CCP(Cultural Center of the Philippines). It was my first time to go inside the CCP. It's so bongga pala.. I don't normally go to that side of Manila since it's too far and it can't be MRTed(HAHA) and whenever I do get to go there, the CCP is always so dark. I never imagined it to be so nice! I'd love to share photos of the CCP, unfortunately, Cameras aren't allowed inside. :( I even had to leave Poly at the baggage counter. Oh well, papel! I'll be sharing photos of our outfits instead! :)

I went with my awesome Sissy/Roomie--MaiMai to the CCP! Thank goodness she took music this sem too! I would've gone to the concert alone if she didn't :( /LONER FOREVER *cries* hahaha, Anyway, we were required to wear something more decent than our usual school clothes. Here's what Mai && I wore:

My bee, Cherrie, came to Manila last January 12-16, She was here for a school-related conference. Her conference lasted for 2 & 1/2 days, the days after that she was already with me! :p I brought her to Divisoria when her conference ended! (much more fun than just sitting on a chair && listening to talks, right bee?) I made her ride the MRT+LRT, too, Which I know she enjoyed so much!! :)

Also, she was able to experience walking like there's no tomorrow here in Manila. When you're with me, you really have to walk! Because there's no way I'm paying for a cab ride if the destination is so near! Unless you pay though :p

We didn't have photos on our shopping trip to Divisoria! The only photos I had was when we went to The Fort.. :)

A day at UPLB ♥

Spent a day at UP Los Banos last January 10 for my Environmental Science field trip. We were scheduled to leave the school by 6:30am, but we ended up leaving at 7:30! Rawr. Lahi ra gyud. Filipino time--More fun in the Philippines! :p Anyway, it was my first time in UPLB! Grabe, it's so huge! I'd definitely lose a lot of weight if I was studying there because for sure I'd be walking the whole day. :p If I really get desperate to lose weight, at least I now have something to consider! :)

Took quite a handful of photographs of the sky on my flight back to Manila last last week. :) I wanted to post these photos but I was too busy! Thank Goodness for the long weekend! I could finally catch up with my backlogs! I missed posting my photographs of the sky here! :>

It's such a bummer that I didn't get to capture the sunset though! I was playing with my laptop for about ten minutes while waiting for the sunset with the window shades down, and when I checked on the sunset, I was too late, the sun was already way down. Just my luck.

Singapore Day 3 ♥

The last of my Singapore posts. :) Spent our last day in the city walking around Marina Bay Sands. Had our lunch there, little shopping and of course-- photo ops! This is actually the only day the sky cleared up for me to shoot landscape photos. :/ The whole time we were in Singapore, the weather was so unpredictable. One second the sun's shining, the next the rain falls so hard. Hence the bad lit photographs! Oh well papel, at least I got to take some shots! :) Enjoy the photos! ♥

Singapore Day 2 ♥

Second day in Singapore! :) We spent the day going around Sentosa. There are alot of nice things to see but our tour only included the Images of Singapore, Underwater World and the Songs of the Sea show. Our stay in Singapore was too short we weren't able to go to and see what else Singapore has to offer (I know there's alot)! I would've wanted the kids to experience going to the Night Safari! Oh well, at least we still have a reason to go back! By then, I'll make sure we'll have enough time to see everything! :)

Finally found the time to update my blog again! I've been really busy with school! My schedule's crazy!! RAWR! My mom gave me this dress two years ago(i think).. That time, it didn't fit me because I was too..... BIG. HAHAHA, so I kept it somewhere and never saw it again until the night before my flight to Manila! :) I was curious if it'll fit me already since there are people who tell me I lost weight daw.. So I tried it on, and to my surprise, it's loose on me already. YESHELLOJAPAN! Woooooooot, I'm super in love with the dress! Wearing it makes me feel like a girly girl from a long, long time ago. ♥

Before I went back to Manila for school, I went to the beach with my Loveys for a little R&R and some sort of get together before school starts & before I'll be far away from them again. :/ Hmmmmmm. There's just really something with beaches that makes me want to forget every problem and relax! Ever since I started studying here in Manila, I never really have the time to go to the beach anymore.. In CDeO, it's always just a drive/jeep away! That's why whenever I'm in the province for semestral/Christmas breaks, I always see to it that I get to go to the beach! :) So I apologize in advance if most of my blog posts when I'm in the province are located at the beach! :)) BeachBum forever! ♥

Of Surprises, Sunrises & Silhouettes ♥

Last October 25th, the night before my best friend(Imelynn)'s 17th birthday, we(the awesome friends) went to her place to surprise her! We brought a cake, a balloon (yes, just one balloon) and two tiny party poppers (trust me, I didn't hear it pop! HAHA). Yep! we're awesome like that! not to mention, ~~BROKE~~ 'coz it's sembreak. hahaha. I really want to share details about the surprise but I won't.. I actually didn't want to go because I wasn't entirely in the mood to dress up that night and I couldn't find anything appropriate to wear for the event! I even almost ended up wearing shorts & a sweater(Yes, to a formal party! Not in the mood at its finest, indeed). But for the love of seeing my strict teachers smile & look all glammed up for a night, I just really had to find a dress! ♥

Went to my bestfriend(Emem)'s place yesterday with my other bestfriend(Jethro) for a well-deserved R&R on the beach! ♥ The beach is actually just outside Emem's crib. Amazing, I know. ♥ That's why this is always our go-to place when we need a place to think or when we just want to take a break from all the noise and drama in the city. :)

We then decided to go to their little white island AKA Polo in the afternoon ;) (where almost all these photos were taken! :) )

Little Miss Semi-Assistant Day 2

Day two of me being my dad's semi-assistant and by being a semi-assistant means I have to drive the real assistant to wherever she needs to go. I think I'm the semi-driver as well. hahaha. It's all good though because the real assistant bought me fries + sundae at McDo after we finished all our tasks! Fun part was seeing our other car with three of our staffs on our way to McDo. :)) We then had a little car-racing on our way back to the office! HAHAHA, the semi-assistant/semi-driver won over the real driver :p woooot, sorry Kuya Raffy! :))) Better luck next time! ♥

Tahanan Ng Kabataan - Boys' Town

Went to the Tahanan ng Kabataan (House of the Youth) at Lumbia, CDO with my mom today. I took the liberty of taking some photographs of the kids who're housed there. Some of them did some "petty crimes" while some were abandoned kids. :| I wanted to take some more photos but then the rain poured so hard. :| I just couldn't allow Poly (my camera) to bathe in the rain. He's just too young for that! :p

This girl is amazing :) Look at that smile! I swear she was smiling the whole time. I guess that's why out of all the kids performing, she was the one who caught most of my attention! Thank goodness for smiling kids. It made my photo pretty decent! :) Will post more photos soon!

Canon PhotoMarathon 2011 - Mindanao Leg

Canon Photomarathon's Mindanao leg was held at the Limketkai Atrium here in Cagayan de Oro last August 27, 2011. I was actually just wait-listed for this because I registered the night before the event. but I still tried my luck and went to the venue at 7am (or maybe it was past 7am. or was it already 8? hmm. :))) ) with my loveys, Chai & Jet! Much to our relief, my name was on the list! So it was a go! :) Happy day! ♥

Okay, enough of our faces. back to the event:

The competition had three rounds and there were assigned themes for each round. We were given two hours and thirty minutes to go around the city to take photographs which should be relevant to the theme.

Here are some of the photos I took that day:

(The day of the event was the day before our city fiesta-- The feast of St. Augustine that's why there were parades and people were everywhere. :) )

It was fun running around the city the whole day looking for something interesting to photograph! But it was more fun because I got to experience it with my best friends who were there the whole day running around with me! ♥

No, I didn't win. But, I really, really enjoyed it. It was an amazing experience! I can't wait for next year's Photomarathon! ;)

30+ hours, 4 airports, 3 countries && 3 plane rides..

First thing's first. I went home all by myself from New York to Cagayan de Oro last Tuesday (August 16, 2011)! My itinerary: 15-hour plane ride from New York to Korea, 4 hours in Incheon International Airport, 3-hour plane ride from Korea to Manila, 5 hours in NAIA, last but definitely not the least, an hour and 45 minute plane ride from Manila to my hometown, CdO!

Sounds tiring, right? Well, it was. But it was somewhat fun, too! (except the part where I had to pay P1,650 for my excess baggage. Plus those asdfghjkl hand-carry checker people who told me to go and check-in my hand-carried luggage which had my gadgets and some clothes in it. Apparently, it was too heavy. Errrr. But surprisingly, my brain was still working that time even though I felt dizzy and all because of being wide awake for 30 or so hours! So, I went to the restroom and repacked everything. Then when I got back to that asdfghjkl person who checked my luggage, English words came out of my mouth. Seriously, Even I was shocked when I started speaking to that asdfghjkl person in English. It was probably because I was sleepy, hungry, pissed and I just really wanted to go home! Then, when I stopped talking, he didn't talk. He just gave me my boarding pass back and allowed me to finally go inside the Pre-departure area.) Sus, Hadlok ra man diayg ininglis!

Went to New York last Friday to finally get my hands on a prime lens! :) I wanted a prime for so long now.. A big shout out to my sister for making it possible for me to own my very first prime! Thanks Ning! ♥

The D.I.Y short shorts ♥

The D.I.Y short shorts in just three steps! :)
This is probably the easiest D.I.Y short shorts ever. haha

What you need:
old jeans or not-so-short shorts
Needle & Thread

Here's what I used:

(This was originally a high waisted pants which I had made as a not-so-short shorts at a tailoring shop in our place in CDO. AND, this not-so-short shorts was actually from ukay-ukay. got it for P25.00/$0.50! :D )

1) Fold the edges up to your desired length of the fold.

(Make sure the fold on both sides are of the same length for it to look neat! :) )

2) I folded my not-so-short shorts twice because well, it was not so short and I wanted it to have just the right length of fold, not so short and not so long. :)

3) And finally the last part - sewing! (My favorite part even though i'm not really good at it!)

Just sew the sides of the jeans/shorts then you're done!

Here's my final product:

I super love the details at the back!

If you're going to use your old jeans, cut it 2 to 3 inches longer than your desired length for you to be able to fold it without it becoming too short.

My very first and EASY D.I.Y short shorts! :) I want to make some more! If only I can find cheap jeans here.......... hmmm. I M P O S S I B L E, I know. rawr.

♥ She does her hair and make-up EVERYDAY. (Emem and I actually named my mom Barbie, because of her love for beauty and fashion. :))) haha)

♥ She has a blue mole on her right hand! :)

♥ Her shoe size is 5 1/2 or just 5.

(By the way, she got her own driver just last year after we insisted to let her hire her own driver! :))))) )

I can go on and on and on and on..... :)) but I just really want you guys to know that even though my mom looks super strict when she's roaming around the campus, she has a very kind heart. That's why we love her very much!

Thank you so much mom for everything. :) You know I love you even though we have misunderstandings most of the time and our mode of communication involves shouting which we somehow consider normal. hahahaha!

Photo Diary: Midtown New York

Wandered around New York last Wednesday. I was supposed to go immediately to SoHo to look around and take photographs, but my sister asked me to get something for her somewhere near 33rd St. so I went there first. After finishing my task, I saw an H&M store on my way to the subway, as always, I can't resist not going inside. The next thing I know, I was bringing an H&M bag already. :| I then searched for a F21 store nearby. I actually didn't know where I was. I just kept on walking.. Then I saw a street sign, I was in 5th Ave! Then I saw Zara, Aldo, F21, VS, etc. I totally forgot I was planning to go to SoHo! Haha

A trip which was supposed to make me take a lot of photographs, turned into a trip which made me broke. But, I was really happy with what I bought! Gaaaah ♥ Can't wait to wear them..

A day of firsts and lasts

My cousin and I woke up early last Saturday to finally watch HP Deathly Hallows Part 2. :| It's so hard to accept that it really is the last HP sequel. :| oh well, papel.. Enough of my Post-HP depression.

Because it was taking too long for the bus to arrive and the movie was going to start very soon, We rode the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail for the first time going to the mall that day! It was such an adventure. :) Lesson Learned: If you just only know how to read and use your common sense, you won't have a problem talaga. :D We arrived at the mall just in time for the movie!

Pt. Pleasant Beach ♥

We went to Pt. Pleasant Beach last week to have fun under the sun.. Unfortunately, we were greeted by heavy rain when we got there. :( Which explains why there aren't that much photos! Nonetheless, We still had a really good time, PLUS, really good food! haha

I really hate this game. 3 buckets full of rings for $10 and not a single ring went in those bottles. very frustrating.

Played this game again! :) Just like the one I blogged about (here) when we were in Florida. :)

and we won three of these! :) haha! The girl in-charge of the game asked me if I was a fan of the college because I was so eager to get those pillows. HAHA. I don't even know what those letters stand for! I just really wanted the pillows. :))

On another note, my cousin and I watched HP7 part 2 today. Severus Snape. :'((

Went to the park yesterday because I was really inspired to shoot! :) I got too excited to shoot though, didn't notice my SD card wasn't in my camera. hahaha. So, I walked back to the house under the scourging heat of the sun, and went back to the park again. -- Love for photography && nature at its finest, yo! :)

I realized that taking photographs of birds is somehow related to knowing how patient you are. Because in order for you to get a decent photograph of a bird, you need to be very patient. :) So, Have you taken a decent photograph of a bird lately? :P

This is a super late post. I wasn't able to decide immediately where to post this because as you know, I am kind of weird in the decision-making department. :)) haha
Well, at least I have decided to finally post it here now! :D

For my sweet seventeenth, we went to East Brunswick, NJ to eat at Makkoli, a seafood restaurant. It's quite pricey but the food was amazing so I think it was worth it. We had buffet and as always, we ate what we can eat! :) haha for short, sinulit na namin. :)

I've always loved to travel, to explore new places and to know more about different cultures. So one night, I decided to print some information and locations of the places I wanted to see. Then, the next day, I walked (Yes, walked) around downtown Manhattan. I'm so happy to finally cross-out one thing from my bucket list! Even though I've been here before, I never really had the chance to see the beauty of New York on my own. I don't know if it makes sense haha but sometimes, I get to see the beauty of something--or somewhere for this matter-- when I'm alone. Yeah, I think it doesn't make sense. Okay, enough of this blah. It was actually an adventure going to Hamilton Park because we had no idea that there is another park with the same name near our place. Sea World, Orlando

The last theme park in our itinerary: Sea World!

This was the first thing I saw the moment we stepped inside the theme park-- MANTA!

Manta is my first flying coaster experience. I was kind of hesitant at first because of the different setup-- Instead of the usual sitting position, this one requires its riders to lie face-down, hence the flying coaster! But after trying the ride, all the hesitations were replaced by mixed emotions! It was definitely worth the 50-minute wait! Here's to more flying coaster experience to come! :)

Penguins <3

I spent most of my bucks trying to win these penguins!

When the ball lands on the colored holes you'll get a prize:

blue hole - small penguin
red hole - medium penguin (just like the photo above)
yellow hole - big penguin

I really wanted the big one but I wasn't that lucky! Oh well, at least I had five small ones! :)

Saw this pretty sunset while riding a paddle swan! :)

Last ride of the day: Journey to Atlantis!

My cousin and I rode it first :)

Then, when the rest of my family saw that there wasn't even a slight hint of nervousness in our faces, they also wanted to try it! What they didn't know was that after the second drop inside the building, the ride transforms into a roller-coaster! They got so mad at us for not telling! My cousin and I couldn't stop laughing at their reactions!

Universal Studios - Islands of Adventure ;)

We've been to Universal Studios in California last '09, so we chose to go to Islands of Adventure while we were in Florida :)

I must say, The rides are extreme! My 11 year old niece gave up riding all the other rides after trying Doctor Doom's Fear Fall. This ride rockets you 150 feet up in the air and then hurls you back down to Earth just as fast as you went up! I almost gave up after riding it too! :|

It was a really hot sunny day so we didn't mind getting wet by Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls! :) We also rode this ride before we went home because we were really exhausted from our ride-hopping! :)

Not too much people lined up for the roller-coasters. So being the roller-coaster maniacs that we are, my nieces, cousin and I, enjoyed the line-free rides! ;) My personal favorite is the incredible hulk coaster:

Let's go to Hogwarts! :)

We rode the Dragon Challenge twice to find out the difference between the two tracks.. The difference? We really didn't know :) hahahaha! It was just the same twist and loops to us :) but it was super fun though!

Funfunfun :) This is definitely one for the books!

First stop on our week stay in sunny Florida is the place where dreams come true-- Disney World! <3

We also celebrated the 41st wedding anniversary of my parents here. :) They both got this really cute pin and wore it all day while walking around Disney World <3

We were supposed to go to other museums and tourist destinations but the weather didn't cooperate very well with us during our three day stay in Washington, that's why we weren't able to explore the city that much. Nonetheless, we still had an amazing time wandering around the streets of Washington with our umbrellas and hoodies on.

P.S. If you're planning to go to Washington, D.C., make sure National Air and Space Museum is in your itinerary! :)

P.P.S. I was lucky enough to see Mister Sun on our last day in the city. It allowed me to take all these photos! If he didn't show up, I would've left Washington empty-handed. Now that could've been pretty sad. :(
